no sessions yet…

I thought I would check in since it’s been a while!

I am still not booking sessions, but I’m still here.  Still kicking.  Still eating all of the cookies and wondering why my pants are so tight.

As a family, we are also still spending lots of time on the lake…

no sessions in 2015

The end of the year is coming, can you believe it?

The most important thing I need to share is that I won’t be booking sessions in 2015. The past 7+ years of taking photos for families has been incredibly fun, rewarding, stressful, and has taught me a ton — about kids and about myself. But I am taking a hiatus in 2015 to work on some other projects in my life.

The nitty gritty: if you have any outstanding order items, please let me know by year-end, if possible. If you need photographer recommendations during 2015, just drop me a note; I can send a name or two. If things change in the coming year regarding session availability, I will post it here.

Thanks for sharing your kids and your families with me. It is truly a small gift every time I get to step into each family’s little circle of love for each other. I don’t take it lightly. I know what I receive from you; I really do. And I thank you.

Have a wonderful holiday season and a fantastic new year! And because no blog post is complete without pictures, here are a few of my kids from the end of summer…

a note about fall sessions

Hello! I wanted to quick post a note for any potential session families to let you know that October weekend session dates are now filled. There are still August weekends available, the first weekend in September is available, and the beginning of November is available (I usually cut off around Nov. 15 due to the dropping temps and how hard that is on little ones).

And because I can’t do a post without some pictures, here is what’s been happening in our neck of the woods:

A little lake time…

A little more lake time…

And then a TINY bit more lake time (yes, he is a very skilled boy, we are very proud)…

Some hanging around with friends (I think they were comparing missing teeth)…

And just some hanging around…

And a very first 5k for our 11 year old (my husband served as his mobile cheering section)…

He finished in 27:06.  Not too shabby for a 5th grader!

I’ll be back soon!

And then we can swap Minnesota August stories. Until then, enjoy this beautiful summer of ours. 🙂

savvy cover shoot

The February Savvy issue is out!  I had a great time last month shooting the cover for this issue.  Angie Whitcomb, president of the Shakopee Chamber and Visitors Bureau, is the lovely cover model and she was so easy and fun to work with.  She is also whip-smart and extremely funny.  I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with for this issue.

And it’s always fun to see which image the Savvy editor and designers choose for the cover.  It’s a lovely surprise and I never know which one they’ve chosen until the issue is finally out in print:

It looks great!  The magazine always does such a wonderful job.

Angie rocked her outfits fantastically (which were provided by La Belle Boutique in Savage) and looked stunning after receiving some expert makeup application from Christopher Prather (Extrados Spa Salon in Minneapolis).

Here are a few other shots from the cover session:

It was a really fun afternoon and I’m so happy to see the final product (and lovely Angie) in print.  Thanks so much to Angie, Christopher Prather, La Belle Boutique, and Britt Johnsen (the extremely nice and easy-to-work-with Savvy editor) for letting me be a part of this issue.

Be sure to pick up a copy so you can read the whole article!  You can subscribe here or check the listing of distribution locations at the bottom of the page.

cover shoot

Hey, the Kids Edition is out!

I mentioned last month that I was lucky enough to be asked to take the cover photo for this issue and I’m so happy to finally see it:

I had no clue which image from the short photo session they would pick for the cover (you can view the others here) and I love the one they chose! It looks great all laid out on the cover. I’m so very pleased. And what a cutie pie little Kendra is.

This Kids Edition was also promoted on Wednesday afternoon’s episode of Twin Cities Live:

The video counts down from 4:58 and my backside (in the blue shirt) even makes an appearance at the 4:13 mark.

I feel very lucky that Savvy trusted me to take their Kids Edition cover photo; their staff was great to work with, the contest winner, Kendra, was adorable, and the whole experience was wonderfully positive.

Be sure to request a subscription or pick up a copy at any of the locations listed at the bottom of the subscription link.

baby, it’s cold outside!

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends and are still going strong on your January 1st resolutions.  I have worked out and/or ran on the treadmill 4 days in a row.  My feet hurt.  And I’ve run out of clean running shorts.  And there is still a lot of January left…

In other running news, I’m running a promotion for indoor photography sessions for newborns, babies, and little tikes.  Tell your friends!  Tell your neighbors!  Tell your Target checkout lady!

mid-summer mini sessions

Edited to add: Thanks so much for the response! I’m excited about these sessions!

So you know how September 1st rolls around and everyone thinks, “Fall is here! It’s time to get our family pictures taken!”

That’s what happens, right? I do it, too. “September! Which is almost October! Which is nearly Thanksgiving! Holiday card time! GAH!”

Well this year, in an effort to help all of us not be so busy at the last minute, I was thinking it’d be fun to do a handful of mid-summer “mini” sessions. It’s a great way to update your kids’ and your family photos (and even get a jump on the always-stressful holiday card preparation) with a shorter, smaller session that offers less pain and more gain.

The details are below. If you are interested in booking one of these mini session dates, you can email, call, or use the “contact” page of the main website; we can hash out the details and choose from a few nice locations I have in mind.
