The February Savvy issue is out! I had a great time last month shooting the cover for this issue. Angie Whitcomb, president of the Shakopee Chamber and Visitors Bureau, is the lovely cover model and she was so easy and fun to work with. She is also whip-smart and extremely funny. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with for this issue.
And it’s always fun to see which image the Savvy editor and designers choose for the cover. It’s a lovely surprise and I never know which one they’ve chosen until the issue is finally out in print:

It looks great! The magazine always does such a wonderful job.
Angie rocked her outfits fantastically (which were provided by La Belle Boutique in Savage) and looked stunning after receiving some expert makeup application from Christopher Prather (Extrados Spa Salon in Minneapolis).

Here are a few other shots from the cover session:

It was a really fun afternoon and I’m so happy to see the final product (and lovely Angie) in print. Thanks so much to Angie, Christopher Prather, La Belle Boutique, and Britt Johnsen (the extremely nice and easy-to-work-with Savvy editor) for letting me be a part of this issue.

Hey, the Savvy.mn Kids Edition is out!
I mentioned last month that I was lucky enough to be asked to take the cover photo for this issue and I’m so happy to finally see it:

I had no clue which image from the short photo session they would pick for the cover (you can view the others here) and I love the one they chose! It looks great all laid out on the cover. I’m so very pleased. And what a cutie pie little Kendra is.
This Kids Edition was also promoted on Wednesday afternoon’s episode of Twin Cities Live:
The video counts down from 4:58 and my backside (in the blue shirt) even makes an appearance at the 4:13 mark.
Ha.
I feel very lucky that Savvy trusted me to take their Kids Edition cover photo; their staff was great to work with, the contest winner, Kendra, was adorable, and the whole experience was wonderfully positive.
Be sure to request a Savvy.mn subscription or pick up a copy at any of the locations listed at the bottom of the subscription link.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends and are still going strong on your January 1st resolutions. I have worked out and/or ran on the treadmill 4 days in a row. My feet hurt. And I’ve run out of clean running shorts. And there is still a lot of January left…
In other running news, I’m running a promotion for indoor photography sessions for newborns, babies, and little tikes. Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! Tell your Target checkout lady!

Edited to add: Thanks so much for the response! I’m excited about these sessions!
***
So you know how September 1st rolls around and everyone thinks, “Fall is here! It’s time to get our family pictures taken!”
That’s what happens, right? I do it, too. “September! Which is almost October! Which is nearly Thanksgiving! Holiday card time! GAH!”
Well this year, in an effort to help all of us not be so busy at the last minute, I was thinking it’d be fun to do a handful of mid-summer “mini” sessions. It’s a great way to update your kids’ and your family photos (and even get a jump on the always-stressful holiday card preparation) with a shorter, smaller session that offers less pain and more gain.
The details are below. If you are interested in booking one of these mini session dates, you can email, call, or use the “contact” page of the main website; we can hash out the details and choose from a few nice locations I have in mind.

Some of you already know (or have noticed) this, but I wanted to mention that I updated my main website a few weeks ago.
Essentially, it’s the same as the old site, except for one important change: BIGGER IMAGES.
It was slowly killing me that the images on the blog were bigger than the images on the website and in clients’ actual galleries. So I hunkered down for a week with many cans of Diet Coke and several bags of Cheetos and updated the whole darn thing.
It was fun to sift through images and update the Little Kids and Bigger Kids galleries, too. It’s great to see some beautiful, fresh faces.
Anyway. Just thought I’d mention it. I realize some of you may be more excited about this news than others…

If you live in the southwest metro, there is a great publication called Savvy.mn Magazine that is published monthly by Southwest Newspapers and geared toward women of all ages.
In addition to its regular April issue, Savvy.mn Magazine also published a special “Kids Issue” during April. And for her article about better photographing your kids, editor Kristin Holtz very kindly asked me to provide some tips.

Ms. Holtz graciously included all 5 tips that I sent her and — I cannot tell a lie — I was pretty darn excited to see them in print.

If you’d like to check out the tips and you don’t already subscibe to Savvy.mn Magazine, you can pick up a free copy at any of the locations listed here.
The magazine is available in Shakopee, Eden Prairie, Prior Lake, Jordan, Chaska, Chanhassen, Bloomington, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and several more southwest suburbs.
